Yet another crucial part of Tiliqua’s series of recordings from Japanese porn stars of the 1970s entitled ‘Erotic Oriental Sunshine’, this comes from US-born Taguchi Kumi, who seems to have spent much of her career ‘performing’ in Japanese versions of classic porno flicks. Indeed the tracks on this, her only recorded output, are taken from her film work including ‘Tokyo Emmanuelle Fujin’ (presumably a take on the French boob-fest Emmanuelle) and ‘Tokyo Deep Throat Fujin’ (which I assume is a re-imagined version of Linda Lovelace’s defining moment). Also notable is that the tunes here are much more upbeat than many of the other discs in the series, pushing far closer into the realms of funked-up and psyched out exotica, occasionally even coming across like a long-lost Blaxploitation OST. Over these enjoyably upbeat joints, Kumi is free to do her thing, which unsurprisingly is cooing sensually as the song rolls, allowing her sexuality to take control. If you like us were stunned and awed by Ike Reiko’s ‘Kôkotsu no Sekai’ then your jaw is sure to hit the floor as Kumi shows just how involved she can sound while cheap synthesizers blast away in the background. Who needs to call those cheap Channel 5 advertised phone lines when you’ve got records like this? At least you know the chick you’re listening to isn’t some bored grunting housewife from Burnley – at least there’s a bit of the exotic in here somewhere. You know you want it anyway, this is more sterling stuff and another piece in the Japanese porn-core puzzle we’re all falling hopelessly in love with here. The perfect Christmas present for the more adventurous music fan, and yep it’s again packaged wonderfully this is as with all of the other titles hideously limited and we don’t have many copies so snap ‘em up quick if you want to make sure you get one.
